Are the international media failing Africa?
admin September 28th, 2009
Or is Africa failing the international media? Is Africa receiving negative press because that is how their media portray them? Do the South African press and media influence the international media correspondents’ coverage of the country? Do the international media reflect the country that the South African news publications portray?
.
“Much as we could beseech the international media to give balanced reporting on Africa,
we are all convinced the lasting solution will come from within Africans and African governments themselves.”
~ Kintu Musoke, former Prime Minister of Uganda ~

What do you think about Japan getting control of International Whaling Commission?
admin September 25th, 2009
“Japan has succeeded in buying the votes that will give it control of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) later this week, in a major step towards bringing back commercial hunting of whales.
The pro-whaling nation has gained the support of three more small countries to give it a definite majority in the IWC, and so begin in earnest its attack on the international whaling moratorium which has been in force for 20 years.
…..
Japan’s 51 per cent majority will not enable it to scrap the 1986 commercial whaling moratorium. For that it needs a majority of 75 per cent.
But it will enable it to make major changes in the IWC, such as stopping all its conservation work, stopping all discussions of animal welfare in relation to whaling, promoting the trade in whale products and reshaping the organisation in a more pro-whaling fashion.”

What is the worst news you have heard or gotten?
admin September 25th, 2009
I know with all this bad crap on TV it is hard to compare at times what is worse… I have seen a fair number of bad things on the news (national, world, and a shock for our area! local…) also I have gotten my share of bad “personal” news…
So in all what is the worst News that you have gotten?
- National
-International/world wide
-Local
-Personal
just wondering…
For me I would have to say
-International – kids *** rings, I found a site once (on accident searching for a baby animal) and I reported it and the Moorhead officer responsible for helping kids refused to really go into the site, I sent stuff to Dr. Phil and talked to Robin and never again after that! I thought it was terrible!! I reported it to many Federal agencies in countries and got no replies! I mean there were literally thousands of kids and thousands of site links off that one site.. this was truelly one of the saddest things I have encountered in nearly all subjects of news…
Personal- hmm, well I always see the good, but my best friends premie (extremely healthy) 6 month old boy died of SIDS, she too looks at the positive and we believe everything happens for a reason, I feel it is good that we don’t have to wonder if he went to heaven, like we do for older children and adults (like near adult children)… we don’t know at what age god holds them accountable….
National- Hearing about parents actually harming there own kids! Yeah I can understand a ******** sometimes, but not beating them or killing them! Or abusing them in other ways!!! I can feel my skin crawl when ever I hear of these things… also hearing child predators don’t get killed, my uncle is getting out in one year and I truelly think that he and anyone like him need to be killed, not from hatred or from grudges (he never was around me(thank god) but I learned to forgive those who made life a bit unbearable at times when I was younger) I just feel the predators cause a ring of alterations in the kid, the kids family, way of making friends, and who they befriend, in a lot of cases the abused become abusers later in life… I really think the more offenders (proven beyond a resonable doubt) that are put to death will create less crimes committed, and the committers will stop at the first time they are caught…
Local, well honestly nothing bad really gets the news… our news is usually someone got in a car accident… Fargo, North Dakota, and Moorhead, Minnesota area (F-M area)… it is a pretty good place, not perfect but good… lately we had one thing on the news about someone robbing a taco bell in North Fargo by gun point… we have had a few apartments burn to the ground, and last year or the year before a school bus flipped (I think), and it killed some students, and recently a dad and his 3 kids were in an accident and the only survivor was the youngest a 9 or 8 year old daughter.. the boys were 12 and 15 and the dad was like 40 something… I think life must be terrible for that girl!
Oh and about the personal one, January 17th is when me nad my boyfriend started dating last year, and it was Jameson’s (baby boy, that died) actual day he was born last year, so every year we are together is every year old he should be! I get the chills…
